Dear Bibi Hearts Friend,

It is a great honor to share the first project blog article with you. Our aim is to share with you all our news on a regular basis so that you can stay in touch with all that is happening in the project.

I would like to give you an update on the highlights of the last 4 months (January to April 2015).

We celebrated my birthday by having a kid’s party all in aid for the children in the project. This was such a great success we were able to give food and bedding to Sedibeng Safe House for Children, Handbags to Thutuzela Crisis Center, 6 months’ worth of specialized nappies for Kegan and items for the Bibi Packs for our own project. We were grateful for everyone’s support. The day was filled with lots of laughs and fun for old and young. We spoiled the kids from the Sedibeng Safe House for Children as well as some of the Cancer patients from Cup Cakes for Cancer project with a day out at a fun park.

These are but a few pictures to show how much fun we had at my Birthday party.

We wanted to give the children the chance just to be kids for a few hours and they truly enjoyed themselves. I would definitely encourage people to celebrate their birthdays in this manner as there is so much more joy in giving than receiving!

The Drab2Fab Team started this year off with a great baking team.

Ninette Kruger is managing this project. The baking Team is baking freshly baked biscuits on a weekly basis and they are sold out every week. They are creative and the ladies are loving their time in the kitchen. This project is providing a monthly income to the ladies that is part of the Drab2Fab Team which are a job creation program.

We have started with making educational Bean Bags for the Rotary Riverside Rural School project. At Bibi Hearts we support education especially in the underprivileged areas. We have started during February with the first stage of these educational Bean Bags.

We were invited to the opening of the Rural School Library Project in Secunda. Bibi Hearts were able to donate a few books towards this Library with the help of our local community.

At Bibi Hearts we believe at helping children at all levels – from basic needs to educational needs. We do not take basic things like being able to read for granted and therefore we love supporting projects like Caring Communities.

Marqaruite Veldman and her husband Dries took the initiative to make a difference in their local community by uplifting a local rural school by upgrading and rebuilding a Library for the Van Stadens Dam School.

Word of Life Christian School

Word of Life Christian School in Arcon Park have adopted Bibi Hearts as a project for their Schools monthly outreach program, and every month they support our project. During February they helped us collecting some books for the Caring Community Rural Book project which we decided to support.

Community Support for the Book Project

We also received some extra books from the local community for the Caring Community Project including a big book donation from our local Rotary club – Rotary Riverside Vanderbijlpark.

We celebrated a very special boy’s Birthday… Ruan – he is one of Bibi Hearts Cancer Angels and we had the honor in spoiling Ruan with some winter clothing and toys.

Ruan is still fighting his Cancer battle but he is truly a strong boy with a big heart. He always has a smile and hugs to share.

Please keep this brave little boy in your prayers as he and his family really needs it!

We also donated 3 Bibi Packs to Children with Cancer!

We want to thank you as community for supporting Bibi Hearts to help us donate these packs. Together we can take hands to make a difference!

Our first Bibi Care Pack was inspired by Ruan. Just after his birthday he had to go to hospital for a week for his chemo treatment.

I asked his mommy if there was anything they need for him to take with and she came back with a very humble little list asking only 3 items: Bubble bath, toothpaste and soap.

For some or other reason this short little list just touched my heart and had me in tears. I could see a mamma that just wanted her son to feel better. And I knew when ever my little one did not feel well that I could put him in a bath with some bubbles and all would be fine again.

I prayed for guidance to buy some items for a hospital Care Pack for little Ruan, and so the first Care Pack was born.

I had a strong realization that we had to start getting these Care Packs together to hand out to more Cancer Children going for their treatment in hospital.

We were able to put 8 packs for girls and boys together and gave it to a project with the name Cupcakes for Children with Cancer and they handed the first ones out on their hospital visit in Johannesburg. The mommies really appreciated these packs as it helped taking a load of their shoulders.

I contacted Cansa TLC – Vera van Dalen directly and we committed to give them a 100 Care Packs by June. Thus far the responds from the community has been awesome and we are very excited sharing some more pictures soon of all the packs that we will be handing out.

The Bibi Care Packs have the following items in: Bubble Bath, Hygienic Body wash, Hygienic soap bar, soap dish, face cloth, sponge, Big teeth toothpaste, Big teeth toothbrush, Body lotion, Lip Ice (vaseline), Super C sweets and Salty biscuits

A huge big thank you to the children from Life Christian School in Arcon Park for your donation of bedding and towels for the Safe House for Children in Sedibeng.

We love it when we see children being excited and willing to help other children less fortunate than themselves. Here is a few pictures of the Children from Life Christian School and also Sedibeng Safe House for Children.

Over the Easter Holidays we were in hospital with our own little one. During this time I had a small little taste of sitting next to a sick bed of your child and it was not easy.

"I once again realized how much we have to be grateful for everyday and to appreciate good health. My prayers goes out to those parents dealing with their sick children on a daily basis. At Bibi Hearts we will continue helping and supporting those Children and families in need.

Be blessed xox"

If you wish to get more information about the project or the Bibi Care Packs then please do not hesitate to contact Odette Koch for more detail. Thank you for your support! Together we can take hands to make a difference in these Children’s lives!
